Organizing media files in the Media Library with custom categories enhances navigation, making it easy for users to browse and find specific files. Categories are customizable, allowing admins to structure media organization to fit company needs. The Media Library module in the Admin Portal provides options to create, reorder, and manage categories effectively.
Categories can be reordered using drag-and-drop functionality, allowing easy management of the structure.
MangoApps includes two default system categories which cannot be deleted:
Auto Collected: Automatically assigned to media attached to updates or posts.
Public Media: Automatically assigned to media uploaded via Mango Recorder.
Hover over each category to access additional options.
Edit: Update the category details.
Delete: Remove a category (removes the association but does not delete media files).
Toggle System Categories: System categories (Public Media and Auto Collected) can be enabled or disabled through the toggle bar. Disabling does not affect automatic assignment to system categories.
To add a new category, click the Add New Category button to open the creation pop-up.
Enter the category name in the Category Name text box.
To create a hierarchical structure, select a Parent Category from the dropdown, or select No Parent to make it a top-level category.
MangoApps allows up to three levels of nested categories, with each parent category containing a maximum of two sub-levels.
Click Save to add the category or Save & add another to continue adding more categories without closing the pop-up.
Once created, click Save to apply the new categories to your domain.
By using categories thoughtfully, admins can streamline media access, improve user experience, and ensure all media files are easily discoverable in the Media Library.
