Overview

Creating a Department, Group, or Project using AI allows users to instantly build fully configured workspaces with minimal manual effort. By combining natural language prompts, optional templates or existing teams, and optional document-based content, AI generates complete workspaces that are ready to use and aligned with organizational standards.

This capability helps reduce setup time while ensuring consistency in structure, permissions, and configuration across teams.


Before You Begin

AI-powered team creation is available when AI creation for departments, groups, and projects is enabled for your domain. Administrators manage this setting from the Admin Portal under AI settings. The corresponding module—Departments, Groups, or Projects—must also be enabled, and users must have permission to create the selected workspace type.

When enabled, eligible users see the option to create a department, group, or project with AI from the compose experience.


Starting Team Creation with AI

To begin, select the option to create a Department, Group, or Project using AI. You are prompted to describe what the workspace is about using natural language. This description is required and supports detailed context, allowing the AI to generate relevant names, descriptions, and structure. Prompt suggestions are available to help guide common use cases, but the prompt can be fully customized.

You can optionally add context by selecting a template or an existing department, group, or project. When context is provided, the AI inherits configuration from the selected source, including categories, permissions, enabled modules and their order, module settings, membership rules, automations, landing page preferences, and invite or guest settings. This ensures governance and best-practice structure are preserved automatically.


Adding Home Page Content

Workspace creation with AI supports optional home page generation using existing files. You can upload or select a PDF or image from intranet files, and the AI extracts relevant content to generate a fully structured home page. This allows existing documentation or visual material to be converted directly into a usable workspace landing page without manual copy-paste or formatting.


Creating Multiple Teams at Once

AI team creation supports planning and generating multiple workspaces in a single request. You can create up to ten Department, Group, or Project plans at once, with each plan configured independently using its own prompt, context selection, and optional uploaded content.

Plans are displayed in a tabbed preview, allowing you to review each workspace individually. You can add or remove team plans, edit inputs, and regenerate individual plans as needed before final creation.


Reviewing AI-Generated Output

For each workspace, AI generates a complete set of core elements, including a team name, banner image, profile photo, description, and home page content when applicable. All generated elements remain fully editable, allowing you to refine wording, visuals, or layout before or after creation.

Once creation is complete, a notification is sent to the creator as a private message, with an optional email notification if enabled. The notification includes workspace images, summary details, and direct links to each created department, group, or project.


Next Steps

After creation, you can continue configuring the workspace using standard tools, including adding members, adjusting settings, posting content, and activating workflows. AI-generated workspaces follow the same behavior and governance rules as manually created ones.
