The integration allows users to access and utilize media assets stored in AEM directly within MangoApps without copying files. Instead, assets are linked via Adobe’s CDN.
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for setting up and using the AEM integration.
Users can retrieve media from AEM wherever the Media Center is used.
AEM integration is accessible in the "Add Image" and "Add Video" dialogs.
Assets remain linked to AEM, avoiding duplication in MangoApps.
Permissions are managed through AEM’s access controls.
The integration supports automatic updates when an asset is modified in AEM.
Access to MangoApps Admin Portal to enable the integration.
AEM Administrator privileges to retrieve the necessary API details and user credentials.
Must have access to MangoApps and appropriate permissions to add media.
Navigate to Admin Portal > Integration > All.
Locate Adobe Experience Manager (AEM).
Click Setup and configure the following fields:
Module Label (Default: Adobe, but customizable).
AEM URL (Your AEM instance URL).
Enable Media Post-Back (Optional, allows tracking asset usage).
Click Save to complete the setup.
MangoApps will use a service user account in AEM to access assets.
Permissions are assigned based on AEM’s folder structure and access controls.
Open the Add Image or Add Video dialog in MangoApps.
Click on the Adobe tab to browse AEM assets.
Navigate folders or use the search bar to find media.
Select the desired media and confirm selection.
Views: Choose between Card View or List View.
Filters: Filter media by File Type or Tags.
Resize Options: Users can select predefined sizes
Smart Crops: Users can choose predefined aspect ratios like:
16:9 Widescreen
Square
Instagram Story
Replacing or Removing Assets
Click Replace Image/Video to select a new one from AEM.
Click Delete to remove an asset from MangoApps (this does not delete it from AEM).
Setting Image Properties
Users can add Alt Text for accessibility.
Assets can be linked via:
Simple URL (Custom external link)
Media URL (Direct AEM link)
Phone (Clickable phone number)
Other (User-defined URL)
Before rolling out the AEM integration, perform the following tests:
Verify that AEM media appears correctly in MangoApps' Media Center.
Ensure media assets are properly linked (not copied) from AEM.
Test search filters and Smart Crop options for images.
Confirm users can access only the folders assigned to them in AEM.
Check whether different user roles (Admin, Contributor, Viewer) function as expected.
Test how expired or deleted AEM media displays in MangoApps (should show a broken thumbnail instead of an error).
Verify media updates in AEM reflect automatically in MangoApps without requiring manual re-upload.
Configure AEM integration in MangoApps.
Assign appropriate access permissions in AEM.
Conduct internal testing for functionality and security.
Roll out integration to a small group of users for feedback.
Train testers on how to retrieve and manage AEM media in MangoApps.
Gather feedback and refine permissions if necessary.
Enable AEM integration for all MangoApps users.
Provide help documentation and support channels for troubleshooting.
Monitor asset performance and optimize as needed.
Expired or deleted AEM assets will display a broken image icon in MangoApps instead of causing errors.
MangoApps will send usage data back to AEM, tracking where assets are used.
The writeback supports Create and Delete actions.
