This guide outlines the technical integration of MangoApps with Microsoft Teams to provide a unified and seamless user experience. By embedding MangoApps' features, such as news feeds and content, directly within the Teams environment, users can stay engaged and informed without switching platforms.
This integration promotes a streamlined, efficient workflow, empowering users to access essential content from MangoApps while staying within the familiar Microsoft Teams interface.
To ensure a successful integration, the following roles are needed:
MangoApps Domain Admin: Responsible for enabling the Microsoft Teams integration within MangoApps.
MangoApps Network User: A user with the news feed enabled in MangoApps.
Microsoft Teams User: A user with access to Microsoft Teams, who will view MangoApps content.
Microsoft Teams Admin: Responsible for installing and configuring the MangoApps app within Microsoft Teams.
To get started, the Microsoft Teams administrator must first download the MangoApps app from the Apps section in Teams. Search for "MangoApps," and install the app.
Once installed, the MangoApps app will appear in the list of installed apps. The admin can then "pin" the app to the top of the left-hand navigation bar in Teams, ensuring easy access for users.
In order for users to access content, ensure that the users accessing MangoApps content are active on the Microsoft Teams platform.
As well, set the availability of the MangoApps app to Everyone in the MS Teams admin center, allowing all users to view it.
On the MangoApps side, within the admin portal, navigate to Integrations and locate the Microsoft Teams App section.
By default, this integration is disabled. To enable this feature, please contact your Account Management team.
Once approved, a toggle button will appear within MangoApps. Set this toggle to ON to activate the integration.
The MangoApps app will be pinned to the left-hand side navigation in Teams. When users click on it, they will see the MangoApps News Feed within the Teams environment, ensuring a native experience.
The feed will display highlights at the top, followed by Must Read and announcement posts, and then other news feed items.
Users can interact with the feed by commenting, reacting, and marking posts as read directly from Teams. These actions are synced in real-time with MangoApps.
The same post interactions are available in Teams as they are in MangoApps.
Posts containing attachments (images, videos, documents, etc.) can be viewed in the file viewer directly in MS Teams.
Supported files include images, videos, documents, spreadsheets, presentations (PPT), and more.
Branding elements, such as curved edges, font size, and colors, are also visible within Teams, ensuring a consistent look and feel with MangoApps.
Users can easily switch between Teams and MangoApps. Clicking View in portal on posts and updates within Teams will redirect them to the MangoApps portal. Single Sign-On (SSO) ensures integrated access across both platforms.
Before rolling out the integration, consider the following to test the feature:
Access to MangoApps Content: Ensure that MangoApps' news feed is fully accessible and functional within Teams.
File Viewing: Test the ability to view different file types (images, documents, videos, etc.) attached to posts within Teams.
Session Tracking: Verify that user activity within Teams is tracked and logged in MangoApps for auditing purposes.
SSO and Switching: Ensure users can smoothly switch between Teams and MangoApps, with proper SSO authentication.
Branding Consistency: Confirm that branding elements (fonts, colors, curved edges) are displayed consistently across both platforms.
User Activity Logging: All actions and write activities are logged in MangoApps, allowing admins to track usage. Microsoft Teams sessions are visible in MangoApps access logs, aiding in auditing and ensuring secure access.
SSO and Data Protection: Single Sign-On (SSO) secures the login process between Teams and MangoApps, protecting user data through encrypted communication channels.
Phased Rollout: Initiate the integration with a pilot group of MangoApps users within Teams, collect feedback, and then roll out to the wider organization to ensure a smooth transition.
User Training and Support: Provide MangoApps-specific training and documentation for Teams integration, and establish dedicated support channels for addressing user issues and questions.
Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate with IT, Customer Success, and other internal teams to ensure proper configuration and support for the MangoApps and Teams integration.
Monitor and Optimize: Continuously track user activity and feedback within MangoApps and Teams, and regularly test for compatibility and performance to refine the integration.
