This guide covers the steps and key considerations for integrating Microsoft Stream with MangoApps, allowing users to embed and view videos directly on MangoApps Home or Department pages. The integration simplifies the process of embedding videos or playlists within MangoApps using a straightforward embed code. Enhance collaboration by providing easy access to video content without requiring users to leave the platform, streamlining content sharing and making videos more accessible.
By embedding Microsoft Stream videos, teams can increase engagement and ensure that important information remains centralized within MangoApps.
To successfully integrate Microsoft Stream with MangoApps, the following roles are required:
MangoApps Domain Admin: Responsible for adding the Microsoft Stream widget and embedding the video codes.
Microsoft Stream Access: Users need access to their Microsoft Stream account to generate the necessary embed codes for use in MangoApps.
Setting up Microsoft Stream does not require any setup nor configuration to be performed but will require the embed code that needs to be generated.
To get started, login to the Microsoft Stream app using an Office 365 account
Click on the Home tab to view all available videos. Click the video you wish to embed within MangoApps.
From this new page, click the Share button at the top right of the page and select the Embed code option.
From the now open a pop-up window, copy the provided embed code.
This embed code will be used in the next steps to display the video in MangoApps.
As an admin user, navigate to the admin portal by selecting the Manage Domain option from your account menu options.
In the admin portal, click on Modules and go to the Home section.
From the Home module, click on the Widget Gallery and search for the Stream widget.
Once located, click Add to insert it into the desired page.
Next, we will configure the widget. Go to the web dashboard editor and click on the three-dot action menu located on the top-right corner of the newly added Stream widget.
Select Set Properties and choose Single Video as the source type. Optionally, add a title for the widget and manage the visibility settings.
Finally, paste the embed code copied from Microsoft Stream (see previous section).
Save and publish the dashboard.
Congratulations, you have completed the integration!
Once the integration is set up, end users will experience the following:
Access the Widget: Users can log in to MangoApps and navigate to the Home or relevant Department page.
Play Embedded Videos: On the dashboard, they will see the new Microsoft Stream widget with the embedded video. They simply need to click the play button to start streaming the video directly within MangoApps.
This integration enhances the user experience by allowing easy video access without needing to leave the MangoApps environment.
Before rolling out the integration to all users, it is important to conduct the following tests:
Widget Functionality: Ensure that the Microsoft Stream widget is added properly to the Home or Department page and that the video plays without any errors.
Embed Code Verification: Verify that the correct embed code is pasted into the widget and that the video displays correctly.
Cross-browser Compatibility: Test video playback across different browsers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox) to ensure consistent functionality.
When integrating Microsoft Stream with MangoApps, keep the following security aspects in mind:
Access Control: Ensure that only authorized users can access the embedded videos. Both Microsoft Stream and MangoApps possess appropriate role-based access control to prevent unauthorized users from viewing sensitive content.
Privacy: Ensure that privacy policies are aligned between both platforms to maintain data integrity and protect user privacy.
When rolling out the Microsoft Stream and MangoApps integration to your team:
Communicate: Notify your teams about the new widget, explaining its purpose and benefits. Make sure they understand how to access and use it.
Assign Content Creators: Designate a content creator on the Microsoft Stream side who will be responsible for creating and sharing new videos. This person should work closely with the MangoApps admin to ensure that the latest videos are embedded and accessible.
Train Users: Provide training materials or short demo videos on how to use the new video widget, both for admins managing content and end users who will access it.
By following these best practices, you can ensure a smooth and effective integration of Microsoft Stream and MangoApps, enhancing collaboration and engagement across your teams.
