The xAPI Activity log in the admin portal provides administrators with detailed tracking of user interactions within the company's intranet and learning management systems. This log captures key user activities and actions following the xAPI (Experience API) standard, a popular format for tracking and analyzing learning activities both within and beyond the LMS.
This feature allows admins to monitor and audit user behavior in real-time.
Search by Verb or Registration: The xAPI Activity log offers two primary ways to filter activity logs—by the action (or "verb") the user took or by specific user registrations in the system.
Activity Verb Filtering: Admins can filter by activity verbs such as "Experienced," "Completed," "Attempted," and others to drill down into specific types of actions taken by users.
Logs Between Dates: Use the date filters to view activity logs for a specified time period, making it easy to track activities over time.
Export CSV Option: Admins can export the filtered logs in CSV format for further analysis or reporting.
This log captures xAPI statements from learners participating in SCORM-based LMS courses. These logs provide detailed records of learning activities, enabling deeper analysis of learner behavior and the time spent on each step of a SCORM course. The xAPI logs can be searched by date, specific verbs (e.g., Answered, Completed, Launched), or by specific course or learner registrations. By default, logs are retained for the last 365 days.
The logs include:
xAPI Statements: Detailed records of learning activities, including interactions, completions, and performance. An xAPI statement typically consists of:
Actor: The person who performed the action (e.g., a learner).
Verb: The action performed (e.g., "completed," "answered").
Object: The target of the action (e.g., a course, a quiz).
Learning Record Store (LRS): These activities are stored in LRS format, allowing for queries and data extraction via the LRS API. Search results can also be exported as CSV files for import into other LMS reporting tools.
Search By: Choose between searching logs by "Verb" (which action the user took) or by "Registration" (a user's specific entry in the system).
Activity Verb: Select from the dropdown list of available verbs to filter activities by specific actions like "Experienced" or "Completed."
Logs Between: Use the calendar fields to specify a date range, ensuring that the search results are limited to the time frame you are interested in.
Once filters are applied, clicking Search will retrieve the relevant records for review.
Admins have the option to export the xAPI Activity log data:
Apply Filters: Before exporting, use the filter options to target the specific data you wish to download.
Export CSV: After filtering, click the "Export CSV" button to download the log data in a CSV file. This file can then be opened in a spreadsheet application, such as Excel, for further analysis or record-keeping.
MangoApps retains xAPI Activity Log entries from the date of domain creation, and these logs are never deleted. Network admins can access them at any time.
The xAPI Activity log offers a comprehensive view of user interactions, providing critical insights into how users are engaging with learning content and other resources.
