🆕Chat Window
Overview
The MangoApps Messenger chat window offers several options to help you effectively communicate and manage your conversations.

Pin Item
Click the thumbtack icon to pin an active chat to the top of the dynamic panel, located to the left of the chat window. Once pinned, the Unpin Item option will appear in the 3-dot action menu at the top right of the chat window when the chat is selected.
Shared Files Panel
This panel displays all files shared in the active chat, along with the file name, upload date, and the user who uploaded each file.

3-Dot Action Menu
Located at the top-right of the chat window (represented by three vertical dots), the action menu allows users to perform the following actions:
Search - Look for specific messages within the chat. This will navigate the user to the Chat module within the web browser.
Open Chat in Browser - View the current chat in your web browser.
Copy Chat History - Copy a selection of conversation for record-keeping or sharing purposes.
Refresh Chat - Update the chat window to ensure all recent messages are displayed.
Mark Conversation as Read - This will mark the conversation as read, including any unread important messages or messages that require acknowledgment.
Settings - Set a custom notification sound for the individual chat. This will apply only to regular chats, not to messages marked as important.
Delete Messages - Remove selected messages from the conversation.
Message Field

Typing Bar: Use the bar at the bottom of the chat window to compose and send messages. The typing bar has a character limit of 4000.
GIFs and Emojis: Add GIFs or emojis to your messages using the toolbar next to the typing area.
Read Receipts: Checkmarks next to messages indicate whether they've been read.
Set as Important: Mark a message as important for easy identification.
Contextual Message Replies
MangoApps Messenger utilizes a message-level reply system to keep conversations organized. This feature is available across desktop, web, and mobile platforms to help maintain context in busy chats.
Usage: By hovering over a message and selecting Reply, you can quote a specific post. The composer will display a preview snippet of the original message, which can be dismissed by clicking the (×) icon if needed.
Navigation: Clicking any quoted snippet in a chat thread automatically scrolls the window to the original message. If the original message was sent long ago, the system retrieves it from the archive automatically.
Compatibility: Replies are supported for all message types, including attachments, "Important" messages, and "Read Receipt" requests.
Message Editing Capabilities
To maintain clean communication, users have the ability to modify recently sent text messages in one-on-one, team, and ad-hoc chats.
The 15-Minute Rule: You can edit any text-based message within 15 minutes of sending it by selecting Edit Message from the ellipsis (...) menu.
Visibility: Once updated, the message displays an "Edited" label. While the content changes, the original timestamp remains.
Administrative Note: This feature is controlled via the Admin Portal. When enabled, it applies to text messages but excludes messages containing only GIFs or attachments.
Markdown Formatting
For richer, more expressive communication, the messenger supports standard Markdown syntax across all devices.
Formatting Options: Users can apply bold, italics, ~~strikethrough~~, and
inline codeinstantly.Structure: The chat engine renders headers (H1–H6), ordered/unordered lists, blockquotes, and fenced code blocks inline without requiring additional plugins.
Hyperlinks: While plain URLs auto-link, standard Markdown link syntax is also supported for embedding links within text.
Composition Assistance (Desktop & Web)
Built-in writing tools help reduce errors and improve professional quality during real-time conversations.
Spell Check & Autocorrect: The composer underlines misspelled words and can automatically fix common errors. Users can add specific terms to a personal dictionary by clicking on them.
Auto-Capitalization: The system automatically capitalizes the start of sentences and new lines.
Preferences: These English-language settings can be managed under Preferences → General Chat Options or toggled directly via the right-click context menu.
Notification Management for Muted Chats
The platform uses a standardized notification logic to prevent "badge fatigue" and ensure you only see the most relevant alerts.
Muted Behavior: Standard messages in muted chats do not trigger taskbar flashes, sounds, or badge increments.
"Hide Muted Chats": You have the option to hide muted conversations from your active list entirely. These chats only resurface if you are @mentioned or if a reply is sent to your message.
Priority Overrides: "Important" messages bypass all mute and Do Not Disturb (DND) settings to ensure critical alerts are always seen.
Ad-hoc Group Administration
Ad-hoc group chats support distributed management through multiple admin roles.
Role Assignment: Group creators and current admins can promote other members to the admin role directly from the member list.
Controls: Admins have the authority to add or remove members and manage the admin status of others. Guest and restricted users are ineligible for these permissions.
