# Files Widget

### Overview

The **Files Widget** provides an intuitive and configurable way to display and access files and folders across various modules. This feature supports personalized content, dynamic visibility, and improved performance, ensuring an optimal user experience.

This widget can be viewed from the **Home** module, **Company** and **Team Pages**, and **News feed** RHS panel.

### **Configuration Options**

The widget offers multiple configuration options to suit diverse needs. Users can adjust the content view through the **Set Properties** pop-up menu. If editing permissions are restricted, the view can be modified by clicking the **Filter** option in the widget's top-right corner.

#### **Default View**

Select the default view of the widget from pre-configured options: Most Discussed, Most Liked, Most Viewed, Pinned, Recently Accessed By Me, Recently Added, or Selected Folder.

**Most Discussed:** This view will display a bar graph of the Files with the most Comments&#x20;

**Selected Folder:** This view allows administrators and users to choose a folder or file node from categories like Project Files, Group Files, Department Files, Opportunity Files, or the Network Drive, ensuring that only relevant content is displayed. The resulting hierarchical folder tree mirrors the structure and permissions visible in the **Files** module, allowing users to select nodes based on their access levels.&#x20;

#### **Content Type Options**

Filter files by type (e.g., Documents, PDFs, Videos) with multi-select checkboxes or default to **All** content types for broader access.

### **User Experience**

**Permission-Based Content**

* Displays only items accessible to the user (based on **View** or **View-Only** permissions).
* Items are sorted alphabetically (A–Z), with folders appearing before files.

**Folder Display**

* Folder names are displayed in full width, accompanied by the last updated timestamps shown in the user's locale.
* Clicking a folder opens its link in a new tab.
* If a permission error occurs, an appropriate banner message is displayed.

**File Display**

* Clicking a file opens it in the correct viewer.
* Permission errors trigger a banner message, providing clear feedback to the user.
