🆕Integration with Yodeck

Overview

Integrating MangoApps with Yodeck allows for the seamless display of your internal communications and announcements across your digital signage screens. This article will guide you through the process of setting up this integration, covering setup within MangoApps and Yodeck, as well as providing security, testing, and rollout recommendations.

Yodeck is a digital signage platform that allows you to manage and display content across multiple screens. MangoApps provides the ability to share updates, news, and announcements. Integrating these platforms can extend MangoApps content to your digital signage for better employee engagement.

Set Up within MangoApps

For this integration, we will need the API key generated from MangoApps. This key will be used when configuring the Digital Signage. From your MangoApps domain, navigate to Admin Portal > Integration > Open API and copy the following key:

With the API key noted, we will now need to configure the Digital Signage module. From the Admin Portal, navigate to the Domain module, then select the Digital Signage tab. Here, toggle the Enable Digital Signage ON to enable configuration mode.

Next, paste the copied API key into the provided field. Review the content type settings to ensure the correct items are displayed and in the desired quantities. Once verified, click the Save button to apply the changes. This process ensures that the Digital Signage setup is properly configured and ready for use.

Now, we need the URL that will be used when setting up the configuration on the Yodeck setup. Copy the URL from here:

This completes the MangoApps side of setup.

Set Up within Yodeck

With MangoApps configured, the next step is to set up Yodeck to pull and display content from MangoApps.

To get started, first log in to your Yodeck account and navigate to the Media tab. From here, select the Web Pages option.

Click the Add Web Page button and paste the URL copied from the MangoApps Digital Signage page. Add a name for the linked site then click Proceed to the Form.

Confirm the web page details and customize the display settings (e.g., layout, refresh intervals) according to your preferences.

Once satisfied, Save.

Next, navigate to the Playlists option along the left hand navigation menu. If you already have a playlist created, click it or click the Add Playlist button at the bottom to create a new playlist.

Add a Playlist

From the pop-up menu, select the Classic playlist type. Fill in the playlist details then navigate to the media Library at the bottom of the page.

Click the Web Pages option to see the newly added MangoApps connection. Drag and drop the tile into the playlist and click Save.

Create a Hybrid Playlist

Yodeck can also create hybrid layouts that combine content from MangoApps and other sources, ensuring that all relevant information is easily accessible to users.

To get started, navigate to the Layouts option along the left hand navigation menu and click the Add Layout button.

Choose a pre-made template or make one from scratch by clicking the Create New Layout button.

Once in the layout editor, click Insert⊕︀, located at the top of the editor screen. Browse the various content added from your Apps and Media libraries and arrange them on the layout field to your satisfaction.

Click Save, confirm your Layout Settings, then click Save again. Your new layout should now populate on the Layouts menu.

To add your layout to a playlist, follow the same steps above for adding a playlist, except, instead of clicking Web Pages from your library, select Layouts instead. Drag and drop your newly created layout into the timeline then Save your playlist.

Connect to External Device

To add a screen, click Screens at the bottom of the left hand navigation menu. On the resulting page, select your connected device or click the Add Screen button to connect your player.

Adding a Screen

Choose your player from the list. For each player type, make sure to review the support notes to check for version limitation.

For the purpose of example, we will be setting up a device with the Android Player.

Go to your device’s Google Play Store and search for “Yodeck”.

Your 9-digit registration code will appear on your screen. Enter in the code to the Yodeck webpage.

Select the playlist you would like to the connected screen and click Done.

Finally, click the Push to Screens button on the top right of the Yodeck website. If the connection was successful, your screen should start displaying MangoApps content.

Congratulations! You have completed the integration.

Security Considerations

When integrating MangoApps with Yodeck, consider the following security best practices:

Limit API key access: Ensure that the API key generated in MangoApps is only used for this specific purpose. Avoid sharing it publicly or using it in other contexts.

Regularly rotate the API key: For added security, periodically regenerate the API key in MangoApps and update the configuration in Yodeck.

Monitor API usage: Regularly monitor the usage of the API key to detect any unauthorized access or unusual activity.

Testing Considerations

Before rolling out the integration to all your digital signage screens, test the setup thoroughly.

Test on a single screen: Start by deploying the Yodeck app to a single screen and verify that the content is displaying correctly.

Check content updates: Ensure that updates made in MangoApps are reflected on the digital signage in real-time or according to your configured refresh intervals.

Verify content layout: Confirm that the content layout and display are visually appealing and easy to read from a distance.

Rollout Recommendations

When you are satisfied with your testing results, you can proceed with a full rollout of the integration.

Provide training: Ensure that relevant team members understand how to update and manage the content in MangoApps to optimize the signage displays.

Monitor performance: After the rollout, continue to monitor the performance of the integration to identify any issues that may arise.

End User Experience

Once the integration is live, end users will experience a dynamic display of content from MangoApps on your organization’s digital signage screens. This setup can enhance internal communication by making important updates, events, and announcements more visible across your workplace.
