Integration with ScreenCloud

Overview

MangoApps offers a seamless integration with the ScreenCloud digital signage provider, allowing companies to enhance internal communication and employee engagement by connecting their digital workplace with external-facing digital signage displays. This guide will walk you through the process of setting up ScreenCloud with MangoApps.

Setup within ScreenCloud

To get started, we will first need to create a playlist containing MangoApps content within ScreenCloud.

Create a Playlist

From the left-hand navigation menu within your ScreenCloud Account, click on Playlist. Provide a name for your new playlist then click on Add Content and select Links.

Paste the URL located in the MangoApps Digital Signage Settings into the URL field. Check the Use as Internal Website box beneath the URL entry field.

Provide a name for the link and click Add Link.

Add Additional Apps and Content

With the playlist created and your MangoApps domain content linked, you have the option to include more media items via the Media Picker. Add other apps from the App gallery such as news, weather, RSS, YouTube, etc., to enrich your playlist.

Once you have all the required/desired links and Apps added to the playlist, it will appear something like this:

If you are satisfied with your selections, click the Publish button in the top right hand corner of your screen.

This playlist option enables you to play media files in a sequential order and for the duration of time set.

Duration will become important for media items occupying the same section when setting up your digital signage layout in the below steps.

Customization of Hybrid Content

Digital Signage playlists that contain a mix of content from the MangoApps domain and other media integrations is referred to in this guide as hybrid content. ScreenCloud offers the ability to display multiple communication streams at once. In order to accommodate for this hybrid content, further setting customization is needed when creating a Channel in the ScreenCloud site.

To get started, navigate to the Channels section along the left hand navigation menu. From here, click the New Channel button located at the top right of your screen.

Choose a layout style and add content to each section. If you wish to include different content in the same quadrant or section, make sure to set the durations for the content from the playlist.

ScreenCloud offers various pre-shipped layout templates as well as an option for further customization through CSS.

To add content, select one of the numbered sections in your chosen template and click Add Content.

Add the playlist or link containing the MangoApps Digital Signage to the main section of the layout and customize further as desired.

Preview the channel to ensure all media are rendering correctly.

Once all changes and edits are completed to your preference, save the channel by clicking on the Publish button in the top right of your screen.

Add to Device

Upon successful installation, a 6-Digit code will be displayed on the screen. We will need this code for later.

Returning to the ScreenCloud website, navigate to Screens along the left-hand navigation menu and click New Screen.

From the resulting menu, enter the 6-digit code shown on the display/mobile device to pair it.

Once paired, select your Channel from the Browse option.

Once the channel is selected, the device will start to play it.

Congratulations! You have completed the integration.

Security Considerations

Keep MangoApps API key and ScreenCloud 6-digit PIN confidential as they can be used to directly affect monitors being used for Digital Signage.

Rollout Recommendations

In preparation for rolling out digital signage to your company's locations, we recommend the following:

  • Identify locations and devices for Digital Signage deployment.

  • Install ScreenCloud apps on all identified devices.

  • Pair all the devices with the correct Screens created in the ScreenCloud website.

  • If pre-exiting Screens and Channels are present within ScreenCloud, then modify any current templates to account for included MangoApps playlists and links.
