Real time messaging & file sharing with team members in one place.

The Team Chat in MangoApps Messenger makes it easy to chat and collaborate in projects, groups and departments. You can also create ad-hoc teams on specific topics and issues to discuss and arrive at a plan of action.

Create a Team Chat

To create your own chat group, click on +Create a Chat Group.

  1. Select a custom team image

  2. Click the X to close out chat group creation

  3. Give your new chat group a Name

  4. Type in the names of Group Members to add

  5. Add members from your Recent Conversations list

  6. Select who can Add New Members

    1. Any team member

    2. Domain or team admins only

  7. Select who can Send IMs in the team

    1. Any team member

    2. Domain and team admins only

    3. Domain admins only

  8. Select who can See Team Member List

    1. Any team member

    2. Domain and team admins only

  9. Select who can Send Important Messages

    1. Any team member

    2. Domain and team admins only

    3. Domain admins only

  10. Click on Create a Group to create your new team chat

  1. You new team chat will appear on the left-hand side of the screen

  2. The title of the team and the number of members

  3. Star the team to pin it to your Starred Chats section for quick access

  4. Click on the Magnifying Glass to open the web version to search that chat and all other chat windows

  5. Add additional members to the team

  6. Click the i to see all files shared in the team and a list of team members

  7. Three Dot Menu

    1. Open in Browser

    2. Mute Team

    3. Refresh Messages

    4. Delete Messages

    5. Edit Group

    6. Delete Group

    7. Leave Group

  8. As new members are added or edits are made to the chat, a notification will display in the chat window

Three Dot Menu

  1. Open in Browser: Opens your chat in the full web version of MangoApps

  2. Mute Team: You can select to have notifications from a team be muted for a select period of time:

    1. 8 hours

    2. Today

    3. This week

    4. Until unmuted

  3. Refresh Messages: Refresh the chat window to ensure latest chat messages are presented

  4. Delete Messages: Select the messages from the team chat that you want to delete This option is only available to team or domain admins

  5. Edit Group: Edit group name, members, and permission. This option is only available to team or domain admins

  6. Delete Group: Delete the created group. This option is only available to team or domains admins

  7. Leave Group: Leave a group that you are a member of. The system will not ask to verify that you wish to leave the group, so be sure you want to leave the group

You cannot leave a project, department or group that you are an admin of. You must transfer ownership to another member before leaving it

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Who can change team chat properties? Only the team owner or a site admin can change the properties of the team chat

  2. Can a user stop receiving notifications without leaving the team? Yes! Users can mute notifications from a team chat for a set period of time.

  3. What are important messages? Important messages will get marked as important. They will also have a unique audible alert and remain at the top of the recipient's notification list until the message is read.

  4. Will a user who has muted a chat for a team receive an important message? Users who have muted the team will be notified and receive the message that is marked as important

  5. How many members can get added to a team chat? You can add as many user as necessary to a team chat.
